Benevolence Center
“Meeting needs, sharing Christ,” which Holy Scripture teaches is
synonymous. God’s Word throughout commanded the poor be ministered to, helped,
and cared for. It is our joy and privilege to serve Bay County in these
areas.
Beginning February
9th 1998 in one room in one building God has blessed the efforts of His people
in this united godly effort to meet the needs of thousands of hungry and
hurting people. The “Sheltering Tree” launched their ministry to November,
2001, a much needed community help group for girls and women needing help in
the pregnancy care area. Confidential counseling, maternity care, diapers,
wipes, cooking classes, and referrals all mark this ministry to hundreds each
year in the Bay County area.
Churches of many
denominations as well as civic groups began to come along side of us and serve
with us. In November 2012 we moved into The Center of Hope building, enabling
us to expand in scope and the amount of food, clothes, and pregnancy care.
We minister to people
giving dignity, confidentiality, and encouragement, as Jesus commanded in Matthew 25:34-40. We give generously without
any bias or prejudice in any area age, imparity, color, nationality, gender, or
religion. None of our workers receive any monetary compensation or salary…all
serve simply for the joy of helping others.
If your church, civic group, or work place
would like to help us on a regular bases, occasionally, or once a year we would
gladly welcome the help. Here’s how: Donation of monies, clothes, or a food
drive by your company or group, remember, we do not sell anything; you give….
we give.
We need volunteers in the food area stocking shelves, moving food from pallets to freezers or refrigerator units, hanging and sorting clothes, or working at the computer desk. There is a great need for women to help in the pregnancy center/ Sheltering Tree located across the street. Pick a day and come serve with us we are open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM till Noon. Come by for a personal tour and see what we do.
